2011 Annual Appeal
Unity Charter School is a tuition-free, public school that offers a unique approach to education for students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade in Morristown and surrounding communities. Unity provides a challenging academic program that integrates the principles of sustainability with the New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards. The mission of Unity Charter School is not only what is taught – the principles and practices of sustainability – it is also the way it is taught. The educational approach of experiential learning weaves classroom experience with hands-on learning.
The 2010 Annual Appeal focused on moving the school to a new building in a new location: One Evergreen Place in Morris Township, New Jersey.
The 2011 Annual Appeal focuses on the property that surrounds the new building. All funds raised in this campaign will go towards:
- moving the playground equipment from the old site to the new location at One Evergreen Place.
- moving the current vegetable and herb garden from the front of the property to the back of the building, where it is fenced in. We will be planting perennials and annuals including vegetables, herbs, berries, and flowers.
- creating a rain garden with native plants to capture and treat storm water runoff.
- creating a pollinator garden to attract beneficial insects.
These enhancements will provide the experiential learning space and outdoor classroom area for the students.
A safe and functional outdoor space is critical to our focus on health and sustainability.
Your gift will provide support for our ongoing work.
